What Is Baptism?
Baptism is a public statement about the state of your heart: proclaiming outside what is happening inside. Baptism symbolizes your commitment to follow Jesus to the world, and each one is a proud moment in the life of the church.
Why Baptism
Baptism is an important part of the Bible story for the followers of Jesus. For example, read this passage from Acts:
“The official asked Philip, ‘Tell me, of whom is the prophet saying this? Of himself or of someone else?’ Then Philip began to speak; starting from this passage of scripture, he told him the Good News about Jesus. As they traveled down the road, they came to a place where there was some water, and the official said, ‘Here is some water. What is to keep me from being baptized?’ The official ordered the carriage to stop, and both Philip and the official went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.” Acts 8:34-38
Being baptized is not the key to salvation. Instead, it is a bold expression that you’ve been saved, and an important one! And every baptism story is unique and completely special to God and to us here at Overflow!
